1 day Study: Mission, to photo-identify Walrus for long term survival research. This was a chance not only for the research biologists to learn about our Wildman Walrus population, but for us to learn from the biologists about our incredible visitors. The flight over was smooth and steady with beach landing.
A few special bird sightings include the Emperor Goose and several Harlequin Ducks. 15 bull Walrus were identified for future research to establish the baseline for Wally mortality on the Alaska Peninsula’s Bering Sea. An estimated 175 members of the herd were hauled out and enjoying the day with us during pinniped rest period.
